Taveuni is the hidden gem of Fiji for surfers, offering a range of different waves. Maqai Rights and Lefts are the premier waves in the area, providing peeling tropical rides that are perfect for beginners when small and powerful, hollow waves for advanced surfers when the swells build.

The ideal surf season is November - April, when the trade winds are light creating clean and rideable conditions.

From May - October, The south swells tend to be larger and more frequent but the prevailing trade winds blow onshore at Maqai, making the waves choppy and less desirable.

Over the years, we’ve discovered a handful of other waves around the island, most of which are steep, shallow slabs over live coral reefs.
